    I have so many feelings about this book. Set at the end of the world in an enclosed dome, Delphine knows what her lot in life is going to be. She'll be a server once her final personality scans are complete, helping those tasked to "save" the world. Only there isn't any time left. Earth is too far gone, whether their leaders say it or not. She thought Haven was her imaginary friend, created as a way to cope with the end of the world. Who wouldn't dream of a hot alien on the way to save you? But he's very real. He came. And he's going to save her, the cats, and (maybe) the other humans... if they are nice to her. Saved By My Alien Husband is packed with world building, but it falls to the sidelines of the story. There are so many throw away lines for you to catch if you pay close attention. Like did you know the The Persistence of Memory by Salvador DalΓ­ is one of the only pieces of art left in the book? Unfortunately not the original, but the remaining citizens in the dome have copies, and they take it with them into the stars. Or that the Svalbard Global Seed Vault is part of the lore, and the billionaire paranoid founder of the dome in this fictional world stole from it when planning how he'd save society? Fortunately, and unfortunately, he was right, and because of that some of Earth's agriculture survived, merging with alien plants on Haven's ship? Then the emotional complexity of being the last survivors, what obligations that makes you feel, and how family just isn't the same in a race you've already lost. It's all packaged in a cute spicy story, where Delphine gets to be the first human princess of the alien Eldrin species, with PSYCHIC CATS! If you want to pick up the crumbs I leave along the way, you can, or you can focus on the whirlwind of Delphine and Haven spicy goodbye the planet. I'm happy to have you in either case.
